Beautiful!
I haven't read too much fanfiction that tells the story of a middle-aged Harry who is a husband and father up until now, and I loved this one for its realism. I suppose most of us have felt like Harry at some point in their lives: Falling out of love with a partner, a job that's no longer fulfilling us (or maybe never has), a hobby or a passion that's no longer pursued ... and before we know it a void seems to have opened up in the middle of our lives while we weren't looking, and we're clueless as to how to fix it again. I only wish we all had a Severus Snape in our lives to help us through it. ;-)
Of course, Harry doesn't only have Severus to thank. He's also very lucky to have Hermione, Ron and Ginny by his side. All three characters are portrayed so beautifully here and really help to shape the story. The conversation between Ginny and Harry never fails to bring a tear to my eye. It's so easy for fanfiction writers to put the blame on Ginny in a divorce scenario and make her at least a little bitchy - not so here!
This Severus, of course, has mellowed a little over the years and it suits him ever so well. He is sharp-minded and quick-witted as ever and his interactions with Harry make for a highly enjoyable read ... especially the steamier ones. I could really "hear" these two in my head during their dialogues. Also, I got a kick out of Severus calling Harry's kids the "Potterlings". Too cute!
The "Potterlings" are charming and I love their little "things", like Lily's love for emojis and Albus' apparent interest in potions and, well, all things Severus.
Like every great story, it makes me want to know more and scream for an Encore. Of course one could accuse me of bias, because I'm good friends with the author, but this particular fact only explains how and why I found this particular entry and not why I've enjoyed reading it so much. :-)
