Summary: When is a holiday not a holiday?
A/N: Unbetaed.
Severus came down to breakfast wearing a pair of ratty drill trousers and a shirt washed to near-transparency. His boots were brown, scuffed and worn at the heels, and his hair was tied back with a piece of old shoelace.
At the kitchen table, along with tea, toast and Minerva's homemade silver marmalade, he found Harry, browsing through yet another glossy brochure advertising some regional attraction. Circling the table, Severus wrapped his arms around Harry and bent to kiss him. Then he snatched the pamphlet from his hands and in one smooth motion, cast Incendio.
"Hey!" Harry yelled, spinning in his chair. "I was reading that!"
"No." Across the teapot, Severus scowled.
"What do you mean, 'no'? It looked like an interesting place. There's a medieval ruin and people dress up in historic costumes and do tours."
Carefully, Severus placed his mug on the table. "Harry. You must stop. We have four weeks without duties at the school. It may be that I was unwise to suggest some local tourism, but the fact remains that you have booked us for some trip or event nearly every single day for the past two weeks."
Harry sat back in his chair. His expression swung from crestfallen to angry and back again. "If you didn't want to go, you should have said."
"I did say, several times, how nice it would be to spend a few days just enjoying each other's company."
"That's what we were doing! And you kept saying you were having a good time. How was I supposed to know you'd rather be at home?"
Severus reached across the table to cover Harry's hand with his own. "I was enjoying myself. But Harry, there is travel and then there is a holiday. I want to stay home and relax. I want to lay about and read in my dressing gown, or put on these old clothes and have a poke through the garden shed. Go to bed without setting an alarm for the morning." He tightened his grip a bit and ran his thumb along the inside of Harry's wrist. "Ravish my handsome young lover until the sun comes up, without a thought for the next day."
Harry, indignation evaporating, repeated, "Ravish, eh? I don't know when the last time was that I was ravished." He curled his fingers to trace them over Severus' palm.
"You see? You'll find that holiday time spent at home has many advantages." Above his small smile, Severus' eyes darkened.
"Like, the chance to take a nap, just in case there might be all-night ravishment, for example?"
"Precisely." He made a sandwich of marmalade and toast and rose with his mug in his other hand. "I'll be out in the shed if you want me."
"All right. I'll make us a nice lunch later, shall I?" Harry quirked a brow. "And afterward, we can have that nap."
