Wizards had been instrumental in preventing Guy Fawkes from blowing up Parliament in 1605, so the custom of burning a Guy had continued even after the two worlds had severed relations. Hogwarts had a particularly splendid conflagration every year, with deadwood from the Forbidden Forest.
The students had gathered along with the elves and the faculty members when Minerva cried “Incendio!” and flames shot into the air. She watched as the kitchen elves served hot tea, then noticed that Septima Vector stood by herself at the edge of the crowd, sipping her tea and looking disconsolate.
What was going on?
