It was no good explaining to John that violating the Statute of Magical Secrecy was a terrible idea since Severus had done the same thing. “She’ll be at Hogwarts for the fall term anyway, so she might as well know,” the boy had said, right before scampering off to bed, and he was not wrong.
“Now what?” Severus’ early anger had faded to a bone deep weariness. “Alison knows, Gemma knows, by the fall Gemma’s husband will know…”
“It’s a mess.” Remus summoned the post and began sorting it into bills, correspondence, and junk. “Look. Yet another festival.”
“How lovely.”
