“You're the brat's mother. You can't possibly be objective.” Theophrastus, rage fading despite himself, turned away from his only child. “Eileen, why? Why a Muggle?”
“Love makes one do funny things. Auntie Astromelia couldn't cast a spell to save her life, but Gran never turned her away for being a Squib.”
“That's where the Society came in,” said Theophrastus. He summoned a yellowed pamphlet from the sideboard. “At least read their literature in case he truly is a Squib. It couldn't hurt.”
