It was clever enough that Severus actually devoted a pleasant hour to researching which House Binns had belonged to (the Hat had spent five whole minutes debating between Ravenclaw or Slytherin before settling on the former). They discussed the issue again before Severus donned his finest robes and apparated to their headquarters in Easton-sub-Equus for a reception.
He did not go empty handed. In addition to his usual girdle book, he wore a pin of curious design that would record his every interaction so he would be able to report back to Binns. It would be a most entertaining evening.
