“What's he's doing here?” The greengrocer watched as the new Hogwarts professor swept down the root vegetables aisle. He was young, very slim, and wore nothing but black, and his sharp features were arranged in a perpetual scowl. “I thought the school fed 'em.”
“They do,” said Mrs. Spicer-Simpson, the pepperer's wife. “Maybe he's peckish? There's barely enough meat on his bones as it is.”
“Six vegetable marrows and a dozen courgettes aren't the usual snack,” said the greengrocer. “Maybe he's got a pet.”
“Maybe he's canning for the winter,” said Mrs. Spicer-Simpson, and shrugged.
