“'Conditions of your parole'?” Minerva pursed her lips. “Severus. I've seen your paperwork. There is no such clause prohibiting you from seeing your former associates, especially on a social occasion. You are perfectly free to attend the Malfoys' party.”
“You know that. I know that. The Malfoys, however, do not.” Severus raised an eyebrow as he retrieved the invitation. “I take it you've never attended one of Narcissa's brawls?”
“I've never had the pleasure.”
“Spending several hours watching Lucius imitate one of his own peacocks is not pleasurable,” said Severus. “Exactly the opposite, truth be told.”
