“I told you it would help,” said Gemma, a trace smugly. Severus had apparated straight to her block with the biggest bouquet of flowers he could find after he'd been informed that he was one of the final two candidates to succeed Minerva as Head of School. “Having your friends and former students speak on your behalf, that is.”
“I still haven't officially been promoted.” Severus watched her arrange freesia and alstroemeria in a crystal vase that belonged to Granny Snape. “I'll find out next week.”
Gemma smiled. “I'm sure the news will be good.”
“We'll find out.”
