Note: this is yet another Motherless Child drabble, wherein Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a young werewolf. Their son John is about 14 in this one.
“Is he speaking to you?”
“No.” Severus stared into the fire. “He hates me, or so he says.”
Remus sighed and settled down next to him. “He'll come round. You've been around teenagers enough to know that.”
“Yes.” Severus turned to look at him. The firelight had gilded the silver streaks in Remus' hair and softened the age lines about his eyes. “You can berate me now.”
“It was a mistake. We all make them.” Remus sighed again, carefully took Severus' hand. “He'll come round, love.”
It was Severus' turn to sigh. “I hope you're right.”
