Note: this is yet another Motherless Child story, where Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a young werewolf. This is set about two years after they move in together but a few months before they adopt their son.
“...and so we'd forgotten one crucial thing.” Severus, slightly sore after his workout, downed a pain potion before taking his first swallow of ale.
“Which was?” Poppy Pomfrey sipped her own pint. “It sounded as if you hadn't a galleon to spare.”
“We didn't, until we remembered that our previous rent had gone toward a down payment on the cottage.” Remus signaled for a bowl of crisps to share. “That cut the mortgage by about a third.”
“We save money and get to exercise,” said Severus. “I'd say that qualifies as a win on all sides.”
