“I'm perfectly fine, Poppy.” Severus glared at her, even as Remus rubbed his shoulders. “I was simply nostalgic.”
“You were more than that,” murmured Remus. “I've never seen you that upset, not even during the war.”
“My mother's books - “
“Hush.” Poppy drew a diagnostic pattern, frowned, recast, and shook her head. “Severus? Have you performed any alchemical experiments?”
“I've been listening to the fugues in Atalanta Fugiens but haven't attempted anything.” Severus grabbed Remus' hand by sheer instinct as she visibly paled. “Poppy?”
“Oh dear.” Poppy clasped his hands. “Severus? You're pregnant.”
