It was battered after use by three generations, but the color charms had kept them fresh and bright. Severus smiled as he watched the Fountain of Fair Fortune leap high, lost in memories of his mother reading the beloved tales to him as a little lad.
“Someday you'll read these to your own child,” she'd murmured, and he closed his eyes against the sudden urge to cry.
