His official vault was, as he'd suspected, largely barren; he'd known there would be consequences for his actions during the Second War and had steeled himself to find it empty.
It was still a wrench to see a single stack each of galleons, sickles, and knuts instead of the gleaming coin he remembered, and he had to take a minute to catch his breath. At least he was alive despite Nagini's best efforts to tear out his throat.
Eventually he locked the door and turned to the goblin who'd accompanied him. Now for the difficult part.
“Obliviate,” he said.
