The door blasted open, char marks on the bannister -
James Potter, body already cold, crumpled where he'd fallen -
Lily, beautiful brilliant Lily, wand still in her hand, his first friend the only woman he'd ever loved -
“For pity's sake, why? They have Grimmauld Place.” Severus carefully lowered himself into the nearest chair. “The house where his parents died?”
“I don't understand it, either.” Remus, face nearly as gray as his hair, shook his head. “I can't imagine this is Ginny's idea. And a fancy housewarming? The Order won't go near the place!”
Severus gaped. “Housewarming?”
