The passage turned out to be an entire room, a Wizarding space that hadn't been properly insulated and sealed. It was dusty and damp, with an infestation of doxies in the moldering curtains, but most of the furniture and books were intact.
“What was it?” Severus ran his hand lightly across a shelf of bound family papers. “Library? Sitting room?”
“Family archives?” The fundraiser held up a jerky photograph of the five Dumbledores, happy and whole. “We should get Aberforth in to identify some of this.”
“I wonder if he'll come,” murmured Severus. He rather thought not.
