Note: this is a Motherless Child story, where Snape and Lupin are married and have adopted a child. Their son is now around ten.
“Here's the DIY section.” The helpful, disheveled clerk pointed at a groaning bookshelf and several racks of kits that ranged from “Brew Your Own Felix Felicis” to casting materials for custom cauldrons. “Some wizards like to get creative, you know.”
If there was one thing Severus was familiar with, it was “creative” students experimenting and blowing themselves up. He murmured something noncommittal and headed for the small section about animagery.
Unfortunately, most of the how-to guides concerned becoming an animagus, not how to reverse the spell. Evidently the reversal was instinctive, not learned.
“Bugger,” said Severus, and scowled.
