“We could hire them out during the day to look for mineral deposits,” Minerva suggested after the fourth incident in a week involving nifflers getting into the dormitories and making off with jewelry, money, and flatware. Angry letters from parents were starting to arrive, including a Howler from Mafalda Weasley's family that practically brought down the roof of Minerva's office.
“I'm sure the local farmers will be thrilled.” Severus poured himself a second whiskey. He'd gotten an even louder missive from Mafalda's parents. “Minerva, this can't go on.”
“And we can't return them,” Minerva snapped. “Now what?”
