The wands were being picky today.
This was not a surprise – wand woods and cores tended to run in the old families, but significant Muggle blood often affected this – but it seemed to make both mother and son nervous. The boy was visibly upset when the rosewood wands rejected him, one by one, and by the time they'd shifted to other woods his hands were trembling slightly.
Ollivander sighed as he reshelved yet another rejected wand. Would the boy have to go to Hogwarts with his mother's old training piece? A secondhand item from Knockturn Alley?
