“Professor Snape!” Fidelia Guff, popular historian, scrambled to her feet as Severus entered the room. Auto-Quotes Quills lay in exhausted heaps on her desk. “It's so lovely to see you!”
“Miss Guff.” Severus managed to bow over her hand. “You are well?”
“I am, thank you.” She gestured at a chair. “I'm delighted you could make it, Professor. Your contribution is essential to the revised edition of Hogwarts: A History.”
“Essential?” Severus blinked. “Surely not.“
“Oh yes.” Her eyes locked on his. “I've been waiting all day for you.”
He had no answer for that.
