Changing John was never particularly pleasant, but tonight set a new record; evidently the child had heretofore unknown food allergies, with the expected consequences. By the time they'd cleaned him, dosed with a digestive tonic, and put him to bed, Severus' robes were a total loss, so were the scented holiday candles on the tree, and Remus was all but catatonic from the mess and the fuss.
Remus finally broke the silence. “He tried to eat the holly. The holly.”
“I thought it was artificial,” said Severus.
“So did I,” said Remus, and slowly poured himself a drink.
