“Hullo, Severus.”
This time Severus looked up at the dragging footsteps. Lupin, a gash on his right cheek, leaned heavily against the door frame. “Good God, man. What happened?”
“I'm not certain,” said Lupin. He limped to the nearest chair, dropped heavily into the seat. One leg was unnaturally stiff. “Is that a side effect? Not remembering where one was a few hours ago?”
“Certain not.” Despite himself, Severus set his book aside and leaned forward. Lupin was too pale, his lips slightly pale, eyes slightly bloodshot. “I can fix that.”
Lupin swallowed. “Thank you,” he murmured.
