“What – how - “ Severus made a stabbing motion in Lupin's direction as the wolf smoothly transformed back into a man, shook dirt from his hands, and neatly slotted the plant into a collection box. “It's daylight. What?”

“One of the plants you saved allows me to control my transformations. Thanks to that, I haven't needed wolfsbane in months,” said Lupin. He smiled, a genuine and beautiful curve of the lips. “Helping you is the least I can do.”

Neither spoke for a few moments. Severus finally nodded.

“You're welcome,” he said, and meant it.
