He staggers into the room, slumps to the floor, buries his face in his hands and sobs. There’s no sound – his throat aches from the smoke of the ruins, the howls of his own grief – but there are tears, salty and slick as they burn their way down his cheeks.
Gone. Gone. All that she was. All that she’d be. All that she could have done.
Gone. Because of him.
He finally lifts his head, stares in the Mirror. Stares into Lily’s eyes, sees her hand reaching out to comfort and forgive.
