Pettigrew tried to bolt out the back door of his modest little house as Potter and Black stormed the front, but Lupin and Det. Tonks of the 1-5-3 were waiting for him by the barbecue pit. The girl, terrified but unharmed, was chained in the basement, and after she'd been returned to her sobbing family, even Black had to admit that Snape's work had made the difference.
There was just one problem: there was not one single scrap of evidence that the other girls had been anywhere near Pettigrew's house. Clearly Pettigrew had passed them on to someone else…but who?
