Only Albus Dumbledore would have needed two pensieves. Severus sometimes wondered how much had been truly forgotten, surrendered within. The newer one, Severus knew like the back of his hand; the first war simmered at the top, the second floating just beneath it, seasoned by countless memories of the oddities resulting from stuffing all classes and strengths of magical children into one hollow castle.

The second one, old and empty, did not bear up well under close scrutiny. Another layer of resentment peeled off from exposure to the memories within, from the things there that Albus had needed to forget.

A/N: I wrote this before I glanced at the newest prompt on snape100. I only just now saw the prompt. ^_______^ It's moments like these that make me believe in the art of Divination. (Though I DO believe I'd get an E in that subject; losing Snape's respect in the process. I'D RATHER FAIL! :3)
