Oh, this absolutely takes my heart apart and then puts it back together. This little quartet is so beautiful. I love the theme of connection, of parallel tenderness, even though they have no idea of each other's existence. Harry's expression is so calm and determined; he seems to be gazing ahead into the future, making a vow to protect Jimmy and always be there for him, the way he is now. It's unutterably sweet to see him resting his chin on the baby's head.
And Snape - Jesus, I feel as though I'm always repeating the same things to you, but I'm flabbergasted by your ability to make him both ugly and beautiful like this. I adore your Snape, and I guess I'll just have to keep saying it because it's true. For once, he looks less tired than Harry, and in fact he looks downright thoughtful, gentle, at peace here, and the way he cradles Allie is so touching. Also, dear God, he's sexy with those glasses on. Allie has her dad's hair! And appears to have cried herself to sleep, poor love.
Yes, there's something about Snape's eyes here. This is the kind of man he might have been - intelligent, attentive - if only he hadn't made such a total cock-up of his life.
Lovely, quiet colors and a marvelous knack for hands, as usual. Your portraits are genuinely moving, Rana. And irresistible, at least to me.
