Individual dance battle. It will take place on Sunday, August 15th in SMA’s auditorium. This means you have one month to prepare, so work hard! Anyone and everyone is welcome to watch.
RULES:
• This is an individual battle, no groups or duos allowed. Other future competitions will be formed that will include groups.
• Please provide the staff with your music choice.
• Your dance must be a minimum of 30 seconds, maximum 5 minutes, and show off any unique style you want. The point of this competition is to see how your training (or personal practice) has paid off.
• Any trainee is allowed to enter, even if they are not specifically trained for dancing.
• After each dance is performed, the judges will rate that dance with a certain number of points, from 0 to 10. These points will be tallied. At the end of the competition, the top three contestants with the most points will receive a prize.
We need four people to volunteer as judges to analyze the competition along with SM Chairman. As with the contestant slots, these spots will be handed out on a first come, first serve basis. So sign up! COMMENT TO THIS POST stating your name and that you would like to be a judge specifically as opposed to a competitor. You cannot compete and be a judge, you must be one or the other. Unlike the competitors, only those who are training in dance can qualify as judges. (So people who are only at the Academy for modeling, acting, etc. without dance included cannot be a judge).

OOC Information:
This will take place on a post in the community. It will start on Sunday, August 15th but it will be open for a few days until all contestants have competed and been judged. Simply comment describing your muse’s dance in the greatest detail possible. Video clips are highly encouraged and appreciated. (A link to the music your muse will dance to is required, however).
The thread you start will be specifically about your muse, and the judges and audience members will be allowed to comment to play out their observations as your muse dances. You may extend the thread for as long as you want your muse to keep dancing, or simply play out the entire dance in your first comment, it is up to you. The first option is recommended for audience member interaction, or even potential mishaps, if that is your desire. Here’s an example:
So-and-so's Thread:
So-and-so stood at the front of the stage, nervous, but ready. As the song (insert link) started to play, so-and-so began to move to the beat. (add whatever details/video clips you want) - What’s-his-face sat in the audience, watching as so-and-so began to dance. He was very/not impressed. -- So-and-so continued dancing, focusing on each move until they were finished/accidentally fell/yelled something at an annoying audience member. --- Judge Jane Doe took *this* and *this* into consideration, and held up a card that said 8 points!
All of these details will be gone over on the day of the competition.
Make sure to state when your muse is officially done dancing so the judges can make their decision!
