Author's Notes: This was first of all written for my darling, adorable aoifeic for her birthday today!!! Then it seemed to fit into challenge #42. So here it is.
Draco stood and watched as the rain fell in a steady, but gentle, rhythm outside the window. Although the day was grey, the grass and the gardens were awash with colour. Rows of multicoloured tulips swayed slightly as the rain kissed each petal and slid into the dark earth. It was moments like this that reminded him of the days after the final battle. It had been nearly three years ago. The battle had ended in a bright flash of green light.
Green, the colour of new spring grass.
Only then the grass wasn't green. It was covered in blood and littered with the bodies of people he had loved and people he had come to hate. He shivered slightly as the sight flickered into the front of his mind. He shook his head to clear the vision and concentrate on the present.
Suddenly he felt strong arms wrap around his waist and soft kisses pressing on the back of his neck. He turned slightly to see the brilliant green eyes of his lover, eyes that understood without a word. Eyes that told him it was alright to be sad sometimes over the loss of his parents.
Green…the colour that ended one part of his life.
Green…the colour of spring, of fresh starts and new beginnings.
Green…to Draco it was the colour of love.
