Author's note: Written for Monday Fun at slythindor100. I was tagged by faith1922 and given the prompt of bad hair day. However, Draco was not allowed to be the victim of bad hair. At first, I was vexed with Faith's rule, but I actually love what I came up with! And Faith gets a starring role...
Summary: Potter is having a bad hair day, and Draco must make it better.
"MALFOY!"
Draco winced. So much for getting some paperwork done in the office of his salon, The Mane Attraction. No, he recognized that voice, and if it was bellowing in outrage, there was nothing else to be done but go soothe the savage beast. Stepping out of his office, he took in the sight before him. All of the stylists had stopped what they were doing, which in turn meant all of the customers were turned in their chairs to witness the unfolding drama. A quick Malfoy glare had his workers all returning to their duties, allowing Draco to focus on one customer in particular. "Mr Potter," he said smoothly, "what may I do for you?"
Potter's famous green eyes were alight with anger, and his equally famous wild hair was hidden beneath a hoodie...but not for long.
"You can start by fixing this," snarled Potter, flinging his hood back. Some would say that every day for Potter was a bad hair day, but this was over the top. His hair was as attractively messy as ever, but its dark color now featured highlights. Orange highlights.
Only years of rigid social conditioning prevented Draco from breaking into an inelegant snort of laughter. Instead, he maintained his calm facade and drawled, "What seems to be the problem?"
"What do you mean, what's the problem?" shrilled Potter. "The problem is that it looks like someone spilled Halloween on my head!"
The situation might still have been salvageable if someone else in the salon hadn't snickered. Like a spark, it ignited the humor of everyone else, and soon everyone was convulsed with laughter. Everyone, that is, except Draco and Potter. Striving to regain control and rectify the situation, Draco said, loudly enough to be heard over the din, "How about a free cut and a blow job?"
The ensuing silence was Draco's first clue that he had made some grave error.
Potter's wicked smirk was his second clue.
"I believe I'll pass on the free cut," drawled Potter. He hooked his thumbs in his belt loops and allowed the fingers of his right hand to trail dangerously near his bits. "However," he continued, drawing Draco's attention back to his face, "I won't say no to that blow job."
Draco's posture went rigid with affront. "Don't be crude, Potter," he snapped. "The offer was for a free cut and blow dry."
If anything, Potter's grin got wider. "No, you said a blow job," he insisted.
Draco felt the faint stirrings of mild panic set in. He harbored fantasies about Potter, but he was certain he never would have blurted out something like that! Looking to his employees for help, he singled one out. "I said blow dry, did I not, Faith?" he asked the young woman closest to him.
Faith cleared her throat nervously, but she looked him straight in the eye when she replied, "No, sir. You said blow job."
Draco was stunned into speechless immobility...that is until Potter stepped forward, grasped his wrist, and began tugging him in the direction of the office. He dug in his heels and sputtered in protest.
"Let's go, Malfoy," rasped Potter. "You offered, remember?"
As Draco was being dragged in Potter's wake, he heard Faith holler out some encouragement, "You can do it, Mr Malfoy! Just keep the Mane Attraction's motto in mind: The customer always comes first!"
For the next victim, er player, I tag the newbie, paedagoge_eros! Your prompt is: sleeping bag for two!
Edit: Followed up in The Mane Attraction 2: Miss Matchmaker
