Summary: Ron is upset at the thought of his sister dating a Slytherin. What will he do when he learns his best friend is, also?
"Look, Ginny," said Ron. "You know I don't play the big brother card too often, but I have to say, I don't like the idea of you seeing Zabini!"
Seated on one end of the sofa in the Gryffindor common room, opposite her brother, Ginny rolled her eyes when Ron claimed he didn't play the part of overprotective brother. "I appreciate your concern, Ron, I really do," she said in earnest. "But I'm a big girl now, and I'd like to make my own decisions, thank you."
"It's the 'big girl' part I'm worried about," muttered Ron, blushing as he considered how his baby sister had blossomed in the past year. He'd taken to bristling at his housemates on a regular basis when he caught them ogling Ginny's assets, and he'd also threatened half of the other boys at Hogwarts. Apparently, he hadn't frightened Zabini enough yet.
Ginny waved Ron off, saying, "Blaise has been a perfect gentleman in my presence."
"He's a Slytherin, Ginny!" protested Ron. "He's just lying in the grass, waiting to strike!"
"Oh, for Merlin's sake," huffed Ginny crossing her arms over her ample chest.
"What would Harry think of you dating a Slytherin?" tried Ron. Ginny had gotten over her crush on Harry, but she still looked up to him and sought his approval.
Ginny scowled at this. "So it's okay for the great Harry Potter to shag a Slytherin, but not for the rest of us?" she snapped.
Ron was taken aback. This was news to him. "Who's Harry dating in Slytherin?" he demanded.
Ginny stared at him as if he'd grown another head. "Why, everyone knows Harry has been seeing Malfoy for the past month," she exclaimed.
"Malfoy?!" cried Ron, aghast at the thought. He'd only recently come to terms with Harry's sexuality, and now this? It was...it was unthinkable! Lurching to his feet, he stomped up the stairs to the boys' dorms, yelling, "Harry!"
Ginny remained where she was, frozen in indecision. She heard raised voices coming from the boys' rooms above, then Ron reappeared at the top of the stairs, dragging a resisting Harry along behind him.
"What are you on about, Ron?" demanded Harry, stumbling down the steps after his best friend.
Ron remained stubbornly silent, lips pressed together in a thin line. He rounded the end of the sofa and all but tossed Harry onto it.
Harry yelped as he bounced onto the sofa next to Ginny. He opened his mouth to protest his rough treatment, but one furious glare from Ron silenced him.
Ron looked straight at Harry and declared, "You are here, because you're my best mate." Turning to Ginny, he said, "You are here, because you're my baby sister." Ignoring her sour expression, he continued on, "You both are here, because I'm only going to give the anti-Slytherin lecture once..."
