Draco Malfoy stared at the mirror before him, gazing beyond his own reflection, seeing another's face instead. His right hand idly traced a pattern on the slightly fogged glass--a zig-zag pattern in the shape of a lightning bolt.
His touch was butterfly light as his fingers ghosted over the scar that was barely visible in the mirror, although he could see it so clearly in his mind's eye.
What was this sickness, this addiction, that caused him, even now, months after his lover's death, to envision him within the looking glass? Perhaps it is merely a dream, he mused, a figment his imagination had conjured from the silence, the somber silence, of the house.
Held in thrall, lost in memories, Draco's silvery eyes remained fixed on the emerald eyes he saw in the mirror.
Reaching a decision, he leaned forward and pressed his lips against the mirror. He wasn't surprised when, instead of cold, hard glass, he kissed his lover's warm, soft lips.
The vial, which had contained the potion he'd ingested, slipped unnoticed from his left hand and shattered on the tiled floor.
