It had been nearly two months, and Blaise was still gloating to himself about how sneaky he had been, getting Harry and Draco together without either of them suspecting. He desperately wanted to brag about it, but wasn't stupid enough to potentially expose himself to the combined wrath of both Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. He was resigned to the fact that it would be years before he could risk telling them what he had done.
It was a Hogsmeade weekend, and Blaise was sitting in the Three Broomsticks, sipping a Butterbeer and watching the crowds of students mill about, when he noticed Draco and Harry come through the front door. They were attired in fancy dress robes, Harry clutching a small, poorly-wrapped gift in his left hand. They spoke quietly to Madame Rosmerta, who nodded and walked towards the back, motioning for them to follow.
"Draco, Harry!" called Blaise as they passed his table, his curiosity getting the better of him. "You two look very sharp. What's the occasion?"
Harry and Draco exchanged cryptic glances before Draco answered, saying simply, "We’re celebrating our anniversary."
Blaise thought quickly. He remembered the exact date they had gotten together, since he himself had orchestrated it, so that would make it... Blase smiled confidently. "Happy seven week anniversary, then."
Harry stifled a laugh, and Draco, rolling his eyes, turned to Harry and asked, "Shall I tell him, or do you want to?" Harry shook his head in response. By now, Blaise's confident smile had slid completely off his face.
"We're celebrating our six month anniversary, Blaise," Draco said solemnly, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"WHAT?" Blaise shouted, loudly enough to cause most of the patrons in the pub to stop talking and look at him. He smiled lamely and waved at the crowd, who, having determined that nothing of particular interest was happening, went back to their conversations.
"But I thought, but... no! I got you two together that night at the astronomy tower! That was only seven weeks ago!" Blaise froze, realizing what he had just said. He was in for it now. He had told them! They were going to be so angry…
Harry was shaking with laughter. Blaise frowned at him half-heartedly, but he was mostly preoccupied by noticing how un-angry at him the two seemed.
“Actually, Blaise, we had been together for months by that point, we just didn’t think the school was ready to accept it.” Draco paused to glance at Harry, who had stopped laughing and was now gazing affectionately at him. “But when we realized you were actively trying to get us together, we decided we may at well just go with it. Well, Harry decided. I took a little convincing.” Harry snorted and shook his head, and Draco glared at him. “Okay, a lot of convincing.”
The two stood and watched Blaise digest this news. He wasn’t taking it well. “You knew? You knew I was trying to get you together? And you already were together? And I had no idea? So… I had nothing to do with getting you together at all...”
Harry looked sympathetically at Blaise. “Sorry, no, you really didn’t.”
“Really, Blaise,” Draco added scornfully, “you’re good, but you're not that good.”
