OMG! *frantically runs around* I had this written days ago and forgot to post!
Title: Marked
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: "Watch me live my life in vain" from faith1922
Harry stared wide-eyed at Draco. “You—what?”
“I’m getting Marked in a week. We need another spy; Severus has to lay low for a while or we’ll lose him.”
“You can’t…”
“I have to, Harry.”
“No! You don’t! Let someone else…please don’t…”
Draco pulled Harry into his arms, sighing deeply. “Don’t ask me not to. We need information so you can defeat him and I’m going to get that for you.”
Harry looked up at his friend desperately. “I can’t lose you. What if something goes wrong? You could die!”
“Then I’ll die knowing you can win.” Draco said fiercely.

“Harry, I’m leaving now.” Draco took a cautious step forward. “I won’t be back until tomorrow night.”
Harry didn’t look away from the ceiling. “Fine, go.”
Draco pushed back his tears. “I was expecting a better goodbye from my best friend.”
“Oh well.”
Draco sighed and walked down the stairs. He waited a moment after putting on his shoes but when Harry didn’t come, opened the door.
“Draco, wait!” Harry flew around the corner and into Draco’s arms. “Come back alive. Come back ok.”
“I’ll do my best.”
“Promise me.”
“I can’t promise—”
“Promise me!”
Draco sighed. “I promise.”

“Harry, you need to eat something.” Severus looked in the boy’s dim room and frowned at the body on the bed that hadn’t moved for almost a week. “You need to keep up your strength.”
“Why?” Harry whispered brokenly. “There isn’t any point. He’s not coming back.”
“We don’t know that…”
“You weren’t there. None of us know. He said—promised—he’d be back days ago.”
“Will you at least come out of there?”
“No. You can stand there and watch me live my life in vain if you want, but it won’t be much longer before I join him.”
++++
“He’s been found.”
“Really?” Harry sat up and looked over at Severus with eyes more alert than they had been since Draco left. “Is he ok?”
“I believe so. I’m leaving now to retrieve him.”
“Wait, I’m coming—” he began to get out of bed but Severus stopped him.
“You’re in no condition to leave this house. You’d do more harm than good and you wouldn’t see him again. Just stay here. I’ll bring him to you.”
“But I need to see him…”
“You will, when I get him here. Be patient. It will only be a few hours.”
+++++++++
“He needs anti-venom and dreamless sleep, now.” Severus snapped as he carried a limp body through Harry’s door. Harry looked up and nearly fell back over.
“What happened? You said he’d be ok!”
“Accidents happen, Potter, you should be thankful he’s even alive. Help me get these potions in him!”
Harry cradled Draco to him, stroking his throat as Severus poured liquid in his mouth. When the vials were empty Severus stood.
“All we can do now is wait.”
Harry glared at the blond in his arms. “I don’t care how hurt you are…you better wake up. You promised me…”
++++
Draco woke slowly, unsure of where he was or why he was in so much pain. He tried to sit up, crying out when pressure was applied to his left arm.
“Draco?” Harry lifted his head and looked over. “Draco! You’re awake!”
“Yes, but—mph!”
Draco was cut off by Harry’s insistent lips moving against his own. He sighed softly and happily kissed back. After a long moment Harry reluctantly pulled away.
“Wow…” Draco smiled dreamily. “Do you say hello to everyone that wakes in a hospital like that?”
“Only the ones I’m completely in love with.” Harry grinned back.

Harry squeezed Draco’s hand gently, smiling when he felt warm lips on his cheek.
“Look up.” Draco whispered, right into the skin. Harry raised his eyes to the dark sky and gasped as bright white comets started to fly by. Draco kissed him again, this time on the lips, and Harry turned his attention from the sky to his lover.
“Love you, Harry.” Draco murmured.
“You too.” Harry whispered back, lips still on Draco’s. They kissed softly one more time before settling back together on the roof to watch the meteor shower, each much happier than he’d been in months.
