Marietta hadn't missed one day of performances yet.
Some might accuse Marietta of being too self-involved to see beyond the upturned nose on her face, but then they wouldn't be considering Marietta's track record with Cho and Audrey. Ever since The Warlock's Hairy Heart opened, Marietta sat in the audience during the play's weekend runs. Marietta was rather amazed by her cousin, who seemed to fall easily into whatever she did--being a roadie, bartending, serving as an assistant to a Healer, and now, acting. Marietta often felt jealous, wishing she could be as flexible and adaptable as Audrey, but she knew better.
Marietta had congratulated her cousin after that night's run, deciding to have a glass of wine before heading home by herself. She never expected to wait for Audrey, who was busy with cast parties and publicity events. When she reached the theater's lobby, Marietta's eyes scanned the crowd separating her from the open bar. She skirted around several groups of inordinately loud wizards, all shrieking and laughing and cajoling one another. She made a face when the skirt of her dress caught on an older woman's hideous, rhinestone-encrusted clutch. After she freed herself, she marched straight toward the bar, hoping that no one else would block her path.
