Sally had to admit that a definite benefit of working for herself was that she could spend all day in the darkroom that she had converted the second bedroom of her cottage into, working on developing pictures she'd taken. One of the biggest things about the darkroom conversion was the Dog-repelling charms on the doorway. The last thing she wanted was stray bits of fur getting into the developing potions. Which usually resulted in Dog lying on the floor right outside the door, looking very lonely and dejected, since he couldn't follow Sally into the room. He was also usually very quiet about it, just letting out an occasional little whimper of "I'm so lonely and ignored here" to remind Sally that he was waiting for her. So when she heard him start actually barking, that was something different. She quickly finished hanging up the pictures she was working on, then grabbed a nearby towel, wiping off her fingers as she stepped out of the room. "Dog, shush," she called out, following his barking to the kitchen, where he was very shamelessly begging her boyfriend for attention. "Oh, hi!" Sally couldn't help but smile brightly when she saw Oliver standing there and crossed the room to give him a kiss before asking, "Did I know you were coming over?" Not that it mattered, she definitely didn't mind him just stopping by, but she might have worn something other than a pair of ratty old jeans and an old faded Tornados shirt -- clothes she didn't mind ruining if she accidentally got some of the developing potions on herself -- if she'd known he was coming over. Or at least not worn a Tornados shirt, anyway. At least the Magpies were back ahead of the Tornados after last weekend, anyway. |
