Roger had enjoyed himself more than he'd expected to. It had been his sort of crowd, and going with Felicity would surely make up for the fact that he hadn't recently gone anywhere else with her - or it should put it out of her mind, at least. That wasn't something he really wanted to deal with. There were times when he didn't want to see anyone, which she would have to understand, and if he thought his time with her was going to be spent being chided about how he was acting, of course he wasn't going to want to come around more. Anyway, she'd spent the better part of the night talking to other people, and he'd taken the opportunity to dance with a few more willing partners, so maybe they'd got all the unpleasantness out of their system and could have done with it. If only they could have something like what he had with Sloper -
That was the alcohol talking, though. He knew perfectly well that wouldn't work. Felicity wasn't Sloper, and wouldn't stand for it. If only there was some ... middle ground. It didn't seem fair.
Anyway, it was nothing he could be expected to address tonight, knee-deep in vodka as he was. Keeping his arm around Felicity's waist and not tripping his way down the docks was about the best he could do. "Have fun?" he asked, leaning in to suck on her ear. "Not a bad party. Should have more swords." And he'd lost his eye patch somewhere, but it had only made him itch anyway.
