Something dark and sad flickered behind her smile, but then it was gone again. "No, I'm really probably not," she agreed, light and playful as always. She kept her distance, though, still not certain where she stood with this version of her spouse.
She'd been prepared to be angry. How long had she left her there, stuck her in another prison and walked away? Oh, she knew why. It may have been somewhat selfish, but it wasn't ill-intentioned. The Doctor, her Doctor, didn't always think such things through. And as accommodations went, she'd had worse. But time passed, she'd been lonely and she'd been trapped.
Standing in front of her now, though, all she could think about was how beautiful she was and how much she'd missed her. She still felt that familiar thrill she always had when they met, even when she knew her husband was getting further and further away from her each time they did. Now they could have all the time in the universe, if they wanted. There was something terrifying about that.
The Doctor had changed again. River didn't even know how long it had been from her own point of view. She couldn't begin to guess how long it had been for her wife.
But the silence had stretched on too long already. "Loving the upgrade, by the way."
