Well, that probably could have been done more delicately, but it was done. Maybe she should handle the introductions next time. But then, it would still probably mean more to the Doctor's friends if she told them herself, even if it was in her own uniquely unceremonious way. It suited this regeneration, she decided.
Unlike her wife, River was very aware of the awkwardness in the room, but she wasn’t much more troubled by it. She did, however, smile politely to the young woman's parents as they kindly made their exit.
Leaning against the wall, River watched the Doctor bounce on the couch, commenting agreeably, “We can pick one out, if you like, Sweetie.”
Then she glanced back at Yaz. “Not exactly like this, no. But there are similarities.” She couldn’t help the fond smile or the way her gaze trailed back to the Doctor.
“I’m sorry,” she said finally, looking back at her, “You must have so many questions. But we really should wait for the others.”
