"Huh? Oh! Right. Um, River's my wife. Probably easier to explain when we're all back together in the TARDIS, though."
"She's married?" That was Yaz's sister, cutting in behind Yaz as she looked up from her phone surprised. Yaz quickly cast her sister a glare then looked back at the Doctor. It was pretty clear she was surprised.
"I...oh. It's very nice to meet you. You're lovely! I mean, of course you are- but the Doctor never said she was..."
The Doctor caught on and quickly added. "Told you it might be easier to explain back in the TARDIS. Can we pop in for a tea?? Maybe we can wait for the boys here, yeah?"
Yaz just nodded oddly and the Doctor pulled River inside. Yaz's mother and father exchanged a look as the Doctor let go of her wife's hand and Yaz went to make tea, shaking her head at her parents in a 'warning'. Lucky for them all, they were used to Yaz's friend by now. And the mother cast River a warm smile before getting up to quietly excuse herself and her husband.
"I am afraid we both have shopping to do, but it is lovely to meet you. And always good to see you, Doctor."
The Doctor was blissfully unaware of the awkwardness, running her hand over Yaz's couch before sitting on it to feel how bouncy it was. "I still think we should get one of these for the TARDIS- it'd look good with a plant. Right there." She put both hands up as if it would indicate a potted plant next to the couch.
Yaz shook her head, taking down the cups and whispering to River. "Has she always been like this?"
