River had a feeling it was a bit of an underestimation, but most blocks of time usually were with the Doctor.
Ah, but still avoiding the heavy memories, were they? She couldn't really say much. She did it herself often enough. It was how they functioned, the two of them, so much of the time, always hiding the damage even from each other.
"The fam?" It's asked in a tone somewhere between amusement and disbelief.
Rounding the console to stand beside her, River started examining the controls more thoroughly. She usually flew the TARDIS by instinct more than anything else, but it was a good excuse to move closer to her wife. "I'd love to meet them." She flashed her a smile. "If you can introduce me properly."
Slowly, she was easing into the Doctor's personal space, gauging how comfortable she was with it now that there was no immediate threat and it was just the two of them.
Every time she met a new regeneration, it was a little bit terrifying, never being quite sure how they were going to react to her, and incredibly thrilling. Always the same Doctor, but a whole new personality to learn her way around. And this time, it was doubly terrifying because she was meant to be dead, but equally as thrilling because this was time she'd never expected to get.
