Fanfic 100
What? I wrote another fanfic100 fic? Shocking Revelation!
Prompt: 025: Strangers Word Count: 204 Rating: G, unless you're offended by Superboy watching Wendy the Werewolf Stalker, or someone having an obsession with Ivan Pavlov. Prompt Table
It’s fairly obvious that Impulse isn’t his normal, cheerful, impulsive self. He’s more focused, less naïve, less of a practical joker, and has a sudden obsession with Ivan Pavlov. For the most part, the rest of his team dismisses this as a good thing. Wonder Girl is relieved that she doesn’t have to yell at him as much any more. Superboy is happy because it means he can have peace and quiet while watching Wendy the Werewolf Stalker. Secret doesn’t mind, although she did kind of like Impulse’s zany ideas, all of which seem to be gone. Robin is happy that Impulse seems to be more mature now, but feels somewhat suspicious anyway.
So he watches. He doesn’t say anything, but he notices that Impulse’s features are a little more angular, that Impulse’s hair gets a little lighter at the roots toward the end of a day. Then he notices the most important clue of all- Impulse has stopped wearing his ring. Robin distances himself from this pretender, but at the same time watches closer.
When Impulse comes to Happy Harbour one day full of the same energy he had before, Robin asks him about Pavlov. Like Robin was expecting, Impulse has no idea what Robin is talking about, or who Pavlov is. Robin files this information in his brain, and vows to be ready the next time Impulse stops being so impulsive. Hopefully there won’t be a next time.
