Melinda rolled up the sleeves of her robes, the pale blue swaying around her ankles as she set about completing her latest mission. Hemingway had given her permission to repaint the house, which thrilled her because there was nothing better than a new project. Painting a house was quite an undertaking, though Melinda hadn’t known that until she had spoken to the man at the paint shop. Apparently, it involved scraping all the old paint off and sanding the siding down and then washing before repainting. There were many new charms involved that Melinda had never imagined a need for until now.
The house had been white, judging by the remnants of the paint. It had been a long debate, picking the perfect paint color to match, but she had settled on China White, deciding the name was appropriate even if she couldn’t tell the difference between China White and Dove’s Wing. Having spent the majority of her day scraping, sanding, and washing, she was very pleased to have come to the final leg of the plan and begin painting. Though before that, there were some wayward plants to attend to on the east side of the house.
She settled herself on the ground on the side of the house and began to tie back the greenery to avoid coloring it.
