Saturday Morning Shuffle
Been doing a lot of tweaking of my music collection lately... right now I'm in between new music batches (I have four CDs coming to me in the next few days, as well as a couple things I've downloaded), so I thought I'd throw something up here.
TITLE: Cursed Memories
ARTIST: Michiru Yamane
NOTES: From the Castlevania: Lament of Innocence soundtrack. Very weird, with random odd sudden vocalizations punctuated throughout. I haven't beaten this game yet, but I will get back to it eventually.

TITLE: The Miracle
ARTIST: Yasunori Mitsuda
NOTES: From the Xenosaga soundtrack. The difference between his work here and Yuki Kajiura's work on the next two games in this series is quite dramatic. Yasunori uses a lot of choruses and orchestration here to give a very epic, almost operatic feel.

TITLE: Memories of a Bygone Day
ARTIST: Yuzo Takahashi
NOTES: I have more than game music, I swear! ;-) This is from theChocobo's Mysterious Dungeon ~Labyrinth of Forgotten Time~ Original Soundtrack, which I believe will/is for the Wii. The music is a wonderful collection of remakes of some of the best Final Fantasy themes. I don't recognize this one right away, but if you can find a good download of it I highly recommend some of the battle tracks. "Alexander Battle" is especially incredible under the earphones, a bombastic redo of "Summoned Beast Battle" from Final Fantasy X

TITLE: Black Rockin' Beats
ARTIST: The Chemical Brothers
NOTES: I love techno music of all kinds and forms. Sometimes it's the driving beat, sometimes it's the sheer chaos, but whatever it is, I can listen to music like this for days.

TITLE: Battle in Fairy Land ~ Second
ARTIST: Manabu Namiki
NOTES: Odin Sphere is a masterpiece of a game. The story is incredible, the controls are intuitive, and the music perfectly fits each scene and place. A whole group of people worked on this, mostly Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata, who did the work for Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII. You can sometimes here the similarities in little phrases here and there. This is wonderfully alive piece, featuring a clarinet bopping up and down around the orchestra.

TITLE: Sparta's Theme
ARTIST: Masami Ueda
NOTES: From the first Devil May Cry game. While I haven't unlocked it myself (my arthritic reflexes, let me shows you them), if you beat one of the harder modes you can play the game as Sparda, Dante's father. This is a great techno-inspired battle theme, with a pipe organ-like sound and a church bell ring that just pushes all the right buttons for me.

TITLE: Do You Have a Little Time
ARTIST: Dido
NOTES: I don't listen to much modern pop, to be honest. I find most of it soulless and bland. Dido, however, has a wonderful voice and some great lyrics.

TITLE: Waltz of the Damned
ARTIST: Yoko Shimomura
NOTES: From the Kingdom Hearts II soundtrack. This is the walking around music when you're on Beauty and the Beast's world. Another neat little clarinet piece.

TITLE: Tempus Vernum
ARTIST: Enya
NOTES: One of her more different sounding songs, which is why it's one of my favorites. She's singing Latin, and while the lyrics are quite harmless (almost a prayer to Springtime), it sounds almost sinister.

TITLE: The Statue of Libery
ARTIST: Michael Kamen
NOTES: From the soundtrack to the first "X-Men" movie. Not Michael Kamen's best soundtrack, IMO, but still a very good one. This takes place during the end of the climatic fight.
