WHO: Eric Northman and Lafayette Reynolds
WHAT: Lafayette gets a new job.
WHEN: Well after dark, June 18th.
WHERE: Lafayette's house.
WARNINGS: PTSD! Wooooooooo!
Eric Northman had the slightest of problems on his hands. People kept showing up outside of Fangtasia. And not people wanting to come inside and pay for beverages or... anything else a vampire may offer. No, it was people seemingly showing up from "other dimensions." Fictional people. And they were certainly fond of running off at the mouth about wanting to kill vampires. They weren't even discrete about it in the slightest, and some of them seemed as fanatical about it as that pesky Fellowship of the Sun, not even bothering to take into account that aside from one harmless glamor that had been performed the vampires of Shreveport had not done anything that could be considered harmful to the rest.
The slight problem on his hands consisted of having to worry that at some point during the day one or more of these new residents of Shreveport may decide to come storming into Fangtasia on the hunt. It wasn't impossible for a vampire to awaken during the day, they could do it if it became a necessity, but they were far more vulnerable then then they were come nightfall. What Eric needed was someone to watch over the place during the day. Someone he knew would not attempt to find where the few that lived there slept.
Sookie would have probably been his first option, but even Eric was aware that he would probably not be able to convince her to have an extended stay in Shreveport. Besides. He was currently quite annoyed with her and her obvious lies about what he had done during the time he had no memory. He had no way of knowing for sure they were lies, of course, as he had since regained all memories save those couple of weeks, but that was neither here nor there. There was no way that the stories she told could be anything more than just that. Stories.
So his next option was Lafayette. The human owed him greatly, and Eric had no problem with using him for as long as he needed him.
That was why Eric flew down to Bon Temps that night and stopped outside of Lafayette's house. He first tried the door knob, but the door was locked. Clearly, he felt no need to knock. But the lights were on so he knew the dealer was home. Instead of kicking in the door he just moved silently to the open window that looked into the small, tacky living room. "Lafayette," he said simply, sounding almost bored as he spoke. "You will either unlock your door or I will have no problem breaking it and entering on my own."
