WHO: Kate Austen and Pike WHEN: After this WHERE: Fangtasia WHAT: Looking for answers RATING: TBA STATUS: Incomplete
If one good thing had come from being mistaken for an actress (and apparently one who was quite hot), was that when Kate had gone to get new cloths she had gotten most of them for free. She was by no means a thief, but she wasn’t about to turn down free cloths, especially when those cloths had designer labels on them. She stood outside Fangtasia, clad in dark jeans, a black cotton top, a black leather coat and black boots – though seeing some of the people going in and out, Kate felt extremely overdressed.
She had considered hiding silver somewhere in her cloths, but that was probably just asking for trouble. Besides, she wasn’t going to start a fight, it was more to try and get some answers, and to get a better feel for the vampires of this world. Kate couldn’t believe that she was even believing the whole vampire thing, but then the last few days on the island had been strange. Besides if there could be a gigantic monster made out of smoke, then vampires weren’t that far a stretch.
Thinking of the island made her head hurt. What happened to them? One moment she had been on the beach with Jack and now she was here. Had they arrived too and she hadn’t realized it? Were they stuck on the island still? Had she vanished right in front of Jack’s eyes. Was this punishment for asking Sawyer to shoot Edward Mars? It wasn’t that Kate really wanted him to die, but the fact was he was dying – and if he died before he could tell anyone who she was and what she had done.
Of course, what she had done. She had blown up her abusive father, and here in this crazy messed up world where she was apparently from a TV show, everyone knew that. She had worked so hard to keep it a secret, to keep running and be as normal as possible when she could – like with Kevin. But then that hadn’t be her, not really, that was Monica. Lovely, sweet Monica, who wouldn’t hurt a fly and definitely wasn’t a murderer.
Kate sighed and ran a hand through her hair, glancing over at the entrance of Fangtasia. It wasn’t so much she thought all the vampires in there were evil, really she had no opinion on them – asides from that Eric guy, who she thought was an asshole. The fact he had people looking into it was no comfort at all to Kate, if anything it just made her more uneasy.
She crossed her arms and kept watching those going in. In all her years on the run, Kate had gotten good at reading people - maybe there was a common denominator among these people? Other than the fact they were horribly dressed, did that one count? She shook her head, she could worry about that later, for now she was just going to wait for Pike - then to business.
