I always loved the nighttime. Not just because of the trouble I got into - though some of those birds were well worth the trouble. Night also brings peace - a sense of calm as the world goes into slumber.
Except for us shepherds. We miserable lot watch over our flocks in the event the wolves decide to show up. Luckily, the two trusted to my lorry were able to stay safe on New Year's Eve. But what happens if those damned wolves decide to show up again? The lorry is a rolling chicane with a target on it's back.
As is the Robin. As is any one of us in one of these cars. A distress call won't save us - nor will the mirrors, nor will the radios.
Am I ready to have their blood on my hands? Am I ready to hang for the sins of the innocent? If I'm behind the wheel, I better be.
Sure, I got off with those other two gits relatively easy. All for a device that may work in an emergency. But will it actually work? I hope we don't find out.
Things to do: -Get with Sirius to figure out some modifications for the lorry. -Reopen the books to practice my defensive wards. -Pick up at least one other muggle weapon.
If they want a war...we'll bring one.
[End Ward]
For some reason, I don't remember the weather being this bitterly cold this far north. Of course, I also don't remember driving the lorry around without a back windscreen. Yes, I'm sure I could use a charm to keep the weather from coming in, but I almost feel like that would be cheating. Isn't the point of this exercise to learn how the lower half lives?
I mean, I know how the lower half lives. Because they are my people. Should I be ashamed to admit it? Because I'm not. I'm also proud to admit that I got the lorry with blood, sweat, and a little luck from my machete. I don't need the minister's quid to get mine. Let that be a lesson for you kids: no matter what you may want, it can be achieved with two hands, a glorious mane of hair, and a weapon.
That reminds me: Does anyone know where to get a spare part? No, not a windscreen. But I could use a spare tire. And a way to fix some bullet holes in the wheel wells.
