Malia leaned on the door after she saw Deaton. Then pushed off to find Stiles. This was the worst. The worst ever. She couldn't even tell at herself that it was Stiles’. She hadn't slept with him. Things had been screwed up to the max.
She knew it was The Nogitsunes. There was no way to lie to herself about it. She took a deep breath. “Stiles, I need you, right now.” She wasn't one to demand his comfort often.
***
Stiles looked at her over the sandwich he’d been eating. When he saw the look in her eyes, combined with her words, he dropped the sandwich, and got to his feet in a matter of seconds. He was still learning to master his heightened awareness, but even without full understanding of the varying scents that wafted off of people, he could tell she was nervous. Anxious was a constant state for him, and a familiar scent whether he had werewolf senses or not.
“What’s wrong?” He wiped his hands on his shirt, even as he took a step toward her.
***
Malia watched him, every muscle tensed. “I'm.. I'm… “ her voice dropped to a whisper. “Pregnant" She shifted her weight, fingers curling into her hips. Anger. Anxiety. Terror. Shame.
“I'm sorry I didn't…” she was fighting the urge to run. Run as far as possible. She didn't know how to handle this turn of events.
***
His eyes went wide. Shock. He couldn’t help it. How could she be pregnant? They hadn’t....his mind shut down that train of thought and realization hit him.
She had been with the nogitsune who bore his face and his likeness. The fox had tricked her into believing she was with Stiles.
He sucked in a breath and reached for her hands. Unfiltered shock still showed in his face. His mind felt both numb and overwhelmed but there was one clear thought.
He would support Malia no matter what. “Okay. Okay. I’m here. You’re not going through this alone.”
* * *
Malia wasn't doing much better. There was revulsion at the realization that it hadn't been Stiles she'd been with. There was shock and anger, but she couldn't have told the difference. He acted, sounded and smelled like Stiles.
She let him grab at her hands, her own mind numb with the gamut of emotions running through her. Fingers curled around his and gripped tightly.
“How can you say that, Stiles? I fucked up. I cheated on you, basically, how can you want to be here for me?” She didn't quite understand.
****
Stiles shook his head. He brought one of her hands up and kissed the knuckles then pressed his forehead against her hand. “You didn’t…” he lifted his head and gave it a shake. He had freaked out, when he ended up on the ship. He had flipped his shit, and he hadn’t been able to bring it back down. He’d lashed out at people, including Malia. And all the while, the nogitsune was mimicking Stiles in every way.
“The trickster fooled us all, Malia. Even me.” Which was a bitter pill for Stiles to swallow, but it was true. He’d been left to question himself while the nogitsune lived his life, right down to getting Stiles’ girlfriend pregnant, apparently.
“You didn’t cheat on me. Cheating implies you know what you were doing and made a choice to do it anyway.” He dropped one of his hands to her midsection. “I know it won’t be easy for either of us, but...but I want to help you through this.” He wanted to ask her if she was going to keep the baby, but he thought that might be insensitive. It was her choice, though, and he would support her whatever she decided.

Malia let him bring her hand up to his lips and kiss her knuckles. She didn’t think she deserved his love at this point. She’d gone and screwed up. The whole thing had been one giant clusterfuck and she had no idea how to handle any of it. Stiles had lost his shit, understandably so, and she had lashed back in return, choosing to believe that the Stiles she was with was the real one and that real!Stiles was not him.
“I couldn’t tell the difference. I couldn’t smell a lie on him.” she whined a little, unlike her but she was frustrated and angry and there was nothing she could do about it. She’d tried to kill real Stiles and slept with the fake one. It was not her most shining of moments.
“No, no I didn’t do it anyways.” she said softly, chewing on her lip. She moved her hand so she could rest her forehead on his. “I don’t know the first thing about being pregnant” she said with a little pout. “And what if it’s some kind of freak because of him and “ she furrowed her brows. “Damn it, I don’t know what to do”
**
“I don’t either,” he admitted. “I mean, obviously I don’t know anything about being pregnant. But I’ve never been around anyone who was pregnant either.” He held her in a firm embrace. He wanted her to know that he was really here for her, no matter what.
“But whatever you decide, Malia, I’ll be right here with you every step of the way. We’ll figure it out together.” He was terrified, he couldn’t lie about that. The erratic beat of his heart probably told her as much, if she even needed to read into the subtle cues. Committing to having a baby was a huge thing, and it wasn’t something Stiles had really considered before, but they were faced with it now, and he would do everything he could to support her.
***
Malia sighed softly. “Can we go get something to eat?” she was tired, and hungry, and everything made her want to crawl under a rock and hide. “I… guess we’ll have to figure out what we’re going to do.” her fingers found his and tangled hers with them. “I don’t know.”
She groaned. She could hear his heart, smell the changes in his body’s scent, and she wanted to just bury down into the den and not come out for a week. “Should we keep it?” she asked, because it was no longer just about her. Stiles was there for her. So. It was a We decision.
***
“Yeah, let’s get something to eat.” He turned so he was beside her, and held onto her hand. He wasn’t ready to let go, and he had a feeling she needed the physical contact too. They were suddenly dealing with a very big issue, and the decision couldn’t be made lightly.
Suggesting an abortion came to mind. It would remove the problem, but would create a whole new issue. The child had no choice in being created, and destroying it hardly seemed fair, just because it would be more convenient for Malia and for Stiles. But on the other hand, suggesting Malia carry the baby created a million and one issues, many of which Stiles couldn’t even begin to comprehend at this point.
There was no easy answer, no right and wrong, no clear cut path they should consider. He sighed and gave her hand a squeeze. “I can’t tell you to kill it, Malia. But I will support you, and the baby too if you decide to keep it. I don’t think we can make that decision right now. I think we need to take time and really consider the choices, and everything.”
And maybe make a color coded flow chart that would clearly display as much information as Stiles could document.
***
Malia didn’t want to let go of his hand. She wanted the contact, as close as possible, because she was a bundle of nerves. She didn’t know what to do and she was so far out of her element she was floundering. Fingers squeezed his tightly as she headed with him out to get food. Food would help focus her brain. Right? Right. No, probably not at this point.
It wasn’t as if Malia was against terminating it - she didn’t know what it would be born into and what affect the nogitsune would have on it. She just had no idea, but that was alright. They’d figure it out. She sort of didn’t want to terminate it, because baby! but it was a whirlwind of emotions and she just felt lost.
“I think.. I think you’re right. We should… maybe get advice from the others? I mean, I know nothing about how pregnancy and being were works or if it does or what the risks are. But it’s not like I can hide it from them, either.” and she meant all of the people involved in their lives now. Even if it was highly embarrassing for her to talk about, the more information they had, the more informed of a choice they could make.
“I’ll get you some new highlighters.” because even she knew there was going to be color coded charts in their future.
***
“I’m going to need them,” Stiles nodded. He inhaled deep and released it through his nose. His heightened senses picked up all sorts of scents and stimuli. He didn’t know how to process it all, and tried to just...ignore it.
“I’ll talk to Scott, for sure. And we’ll...yeah. We’ll have to tell the others, if we’re going to keep it.” And he was already starting to feel that was the path they were going to take. He couldn’t be sure, at this point, but he was inclined to think neither of them would really be on board to terminate.
***
Malia pulled him close, tucking him into a hug that found her head buried against the side of his neck. She took in a deep breath and focused, he was alright, he was changed, but he was still hers. He wasn’t leaving her and all she had to do was be honest and try everything she could. She didn’t want to let him go.
“We’ll figure this out.” she said softly and nipped lightly at his ear. This was going to be a strange, strange journey. But she had him, they’d make it work somehow. And maybe some good could come of the Nogitsune, who knows. She just hoped that whatever they ended up deciding was going to be the best option.
