The entire night, Cosette had been very jumpy. It was the conversation with her daughter that had done it. She had a feeling that if Sirius was, in fact, alive, he would probably be coming after her and the rest of her family, not that there were many left. She thought she heard noises all night, so needless to say, she didn't get a lot of sleep.
She finished getting ready for work and made her way to the door, oblivious to the fact that someone was out there. When she opened the door, she saw a man standing there with his hand raised as though about to knock. By reflex, her eyes moved to his, though she doubted he would have found her so quickly, it was just because of the conversation with her daughter.
She'd been wrong, though. As soon as her eyes met his, she knew he'd found her. She'd only seen that eye color on two people before. Sirius and his daughter--her daughter. After a moment's hesitation, she stepped out of the way and slammed the door hoping he would leave if he saw she didn't want to talk to him, then she locked it so he wouldn't get the bright idea to come in. She leaned back against the door and closed her eyes, trying to catch her breath.
