Re: Sebastian and Hunter
Hunter had a feeling that if Greg wasn't that drunk he'd have spotted that weird vibe going on between Sebastian and Hunter and maybe that wouldn't have been good for Sebastian. Then again he had no idea, maybe Sebastian was gay and everyone close to him knew and it wasn't an issue. Maybe he just wasn't as open about it as Hunter was. Or he was bi, since he'd dated Jules Cooper. God, he was overthinking it and he was still staring very pointedly into Sebastian's eyes. He forced himself to look away for a moment, finishing his drink with that grin still permanently fixed to his face.
“Yeah, I am,” Sebastian snickered, one hand going up to his crown to keep it from falling off. His eyes never left Hunter’s though and he didn’t realize how that might be perceived until Greg was already wandering off. Except if Greg hadn’t noticed, maybe no one else had. “He’s crazy drunk,” he smiled. “Sorry he keeps… I mean… he’s my best friend.” Which was the only way he knew how to explain it. “It’s a party, so he’s… he’s just like that. Even when it’s not a party. He’s always like that,” he laughed. “He’ll probably be back in another five minutes. Maybe next time he won’t catch me by surprise.”
Hunter grinned softly. He didn't think Greg was being that bad, he'd seen straight guys - especially the football kind - being a lot worse and at least Greg wasn't punching Sebastian for laughs or something. It was cute how Sebastian was making excuses for him though, but then everything about him was stupidly cute. "Forgot to take his Ritalin?" Hunter joked as he glanced after Greg with some amusement only to spot his sister when he did. She was not having as good of a time as he was, that was for sure, and he felt a little guilty about it. Biting his lip he turned back to Sebastian and put his cup down, this time for good. "I gotta go," he said sadly, way more sadly than if he was just leaving a party where there was no cute guy being freakishly adorable at him.
“Everyday,” Sebastian joked, though sometimes he did wonder. He was pretty sure it was just who Greg was, boisterous at all times, even more so when drinking. He made Sebastian seem quiet by comparison, and Sebastian knew he wasn’t quiet. His face fell when Hunter said he had to go, but when he followed Hunter’s gaze he understood why. Sucking up his courage, he reached out and grabbed Hunter’s hand, giving it a brief squeeze before releasing it. “I’ll call,” he promised, biting his lip through his smile.
"Then I better send you my number," Hunter said and somehow managed, against all odds, to sound cool about it when in reality his stomach was doing some weird combination of happiness and anxiety. Weird how such a small touch could shake him to the core. How did people survive sex? It was a little terrifying because usually his flirting was pretty empty and it was easy to be suggestive and cute with a guy when he knew it wasn't going anywhere. He didn't know that with Sebastian. Maybe he'd be aloof and super straight when he wasn't this drunk, but Hunter felt like if he stayed and they kept talking things might happen. It made him want to stay. It also made him really want to get out of there. He backed up a little, his gaze still fixed on Sebastian's face and when he finally turned to leave he had to glance back over his shoulder.
“You better,” Sebastian agreed, smiling back at him as he turned to go. He ran his fingers through his hair, noting now how fast his heart was beating, how his skin felt warm, his whole body for that matter. It was hard to believe that had just happened, that he’d met a guy that might actually be into him and they’d hit it off. Or he really hoped that’s what had happened. It was totally possible that they were both drunk and Hunter would rethink things once he got home because Sebastian knew he was going to be a pain in the ass. He wasn’t out. Not even his best friend knew. But Hunter did, so maybe that was a good place to start.
